Optimization of quality system in slaughterhouses

Ensuring food safety and quality has become an increasingly important issue within the food sector over the past few decades. Retail chains impose strict conditions on their suppliers and consumers themselves are becoming increasingly critical.  In almost no other branch quality and control systems and standards have been introduced on such a large scale as in the meat sector. HYTT has developed an innovative solution that not only contributes to sustainability and waste management, but also to the optimization of your quality system,

Clean slaughter process

In the slaughter process, working hygienically is essential. The hygiene protocols are laid down in the Hygiene Code of your company and every employee has to follow it. Everything is aimed at clean slaughtering.

During and after the slaughter process, it is important that all slaughter waste, residual flows and by-products are disposed of hygienically so that they can be reused or destroyed and the slaughter room itself remains as clean as possible.

Disposal of slaughterhouse waste, residual flows and by-products

Slaughter waste
The processing of slaughter waste, dead animals and condemned meat is regulated by the Destruction Act. The law distinguishes between Low Risk Material (LRM), High Risk Material (HRM) and Specific Risk Material (SRM).

  • LRM consists of meat products whose expiration date has passed or whose meat structure is different. This may be processed in cat and dog food and can therefore still be used.
  • HRM is animal waste in which harmful effects on humans cannot be ruled out, such as untested or spoiled meat. SRM includes those parts of animals that have a risk of contamination, for example.
  • HRM and SRM must be disposed of and stored separately before going to the rendering plant for incineration

Residual streams and by-products.

Residual and by-products from the slaughterhouse go to specialized companies for further processing. All kinds of products are made from residual flows and by-products.

Hygienic internal transport

Only if waste streams, residual streams and by-products are transported hygienically to separate collection points can they be processed further. This not only generates money, but above all a positive image (sustainable). This gives your company extra opportunities and profit.

Optimizing the quality system

In the production area waste streams, residual streams and by-products are often transported manually in carts, bins or other internal transport means.

HYTT supplies a system of closed pipes which can remove waste from several production halls super fast, hygienically and safely to a desired point in or outside the factory.  The system works by means of a central vacuum generator to which several extraction points can be connected and which transport the waste to a central container. The suction points are placed where the waste originates in order to avoid unnecessary manual transport of waste and cross-contamination.

Benefits for the quality system

The modified way of working can be recorded in the quality management system, which contributes structurally to quality assurance and food safety.
